Borrowing to pay tax
A Hong Kong “tax loan” is still a debt used to pay a tax bill. Look at the bill, the term, and the total cost before you enquire. This page is not tax advice.
Paying the tax does not end the debt
Advertisements for tax loans usually mean borrowing to pay the bill, then repaying the lender in instalments. After the Inland Revenue Department has the tax, your debt to the lender is only beginning. It is not a tax reduction, and it is not automatically cheaper than paying the bill yourself.
China Prestige Capital is not the Inland Revenue Department, does not give tax advice, and has no fixed product called a tax loan. A personal-loan enquiry may include tax as the purpose. Repayment ability is still assessed, and the rate and term are confirmed in writing. APR must not exceed 48%.
Start from the bill, not from a round number
Consider no more than the amount the bill says you must pay. Do not borrow a larger round sum and spend the extra. Keep the tax, any surcharge, and living costs separate. The extra becomes unnecessary interest.
This page cannot say whether the assessment is right, or whether you should object. Read the bill yourself or ask someone qualified. A loan article only deals with how the debt would be repaid if you borrow to pay.
A short bill makes fees more visible
If income in a few months can clear the bill, a long instalment plan may cost more in total interest. A shorter term costs more each month and usually less overall. The site example is a 12-month HK$20,000 illustration. It is not a quote for your tax bill, and it cannot be divided into a daily rate for a tax loan.
Add every fee into the total. Interest described as zero, with a large fee up front, can still be expensive. Before you sign, ask for principal, rate, fees, the number of payments, and the total.
Do not charge the home for a short tax bill unless you accept security
Using a second mortgage or owner loan on the home you live in, in order to pay one tax bill, exchanges housing risk for short-term cash. Unless you accept that default may lead to a sale, look first at whether an unsecured personal loan is even appropriate, or do not borrow. A personal loan can also be declined.
Do not put the property address on a form you do not intend as security, just to raise a “tax loan” chance.
An advance fee in tax season is a warning
Tax season produces impostors. Someone may hold an image of your bill and demand a handling fee first. Do not give the bill to a person you cannot verify. We do not need payment before approval, and we do not need an online-banking password.
Call 3622 2934 if you are unsure. Sending an enquiry does not pay your tax. You have to repay your loans. Don’t pay any intermediaries.

Under the Money Lenders Ordinance, the APR must not exceed 48%. The HK$20,000 example on this site is illustrative only: monthly flat rate 0.052%, APR 1.15%, 12 months, no handling fee, monthly interest HK$10.4, total repayment HK$20,124.8. Your rate, amount, and term are assessed individually and confirmed in writing.
Sending an enquiry, or reading an article, is not an approval. A second mortgage or owner loan is secured on property. Default may lead to enforcement and sale. Obtain your own legal advice before signing any security document.
